Have you ever heard of a vision board? It’s more than just a collage of inspiring images and words—it’s a powerful tool for manifesting goals and dreams. A vision board serves as a visual representation of what you want to achieve, helping you focus on your intentions and align your actions with your desires.
The Origin of Vision Boards
The concept of vision boards is rooted in visualization techniques that date back to ancient times. Many cultures have used symbols and imagery to set intentions, from cave paintings to sacred altars. The modern practice of vision boarding gained popularity with the rise of self-improvement movements, particularly through books and teachings on The Law of Attraction.
Vision boards may also be referred to as:
- Dream Boards – focusing on long-term aspirations.
- Goal Maps – structured to highlight actionable steps.
- Inspiration Boards – more abstract, designed to spark creativity and motivation.
While the name and format may vary, the core idea remains the same: to create a visual reminder of what you want to bring into your life.
How to Make a Vision Board
Creating a vision board is a fun and reflective process. Here’s how you can make one:
- Gather Your Materials – You’ll need a board (poster, corkboard, or digital platform), magazines, printed images, markers, and glue.
- Clarify Your Goals – Think about different areas of your life: personal growth, relationships, health, career, hobbies, and spiritual fulfillment.
- Find Inspiring Images & Words – Look for pictures, quotes, or symbols that resonate with your goals and emotions.
- Arrange & Secure Your Elements – Place them in a way that feels meaningful to you. There’s no wrong way to do it!
- Display Your Vision Board – Keep it somewhere you’ll see often as a daily reminder of your aspirations.
The Benefits of Vision Boards
- Clarity & Focus – They help you define what you truly want.
- Motivation & Encouragement – Seeing your goals regularly keeps you inspired.
- Manifestation & Positive Thinking – By reinforcing positive thoughts, you naturally start taking steps toward your dreams.
A Look at My 2025 Vision Board
I’m excited to share a glimpse into my personal vision board and some of the goals that mean the most to me this year:
- Seeing Live Cardinals – By the end of this year, I hope to witness live cardinals. To me, they are a sign that my beloved son, who has passed, is nearby. This is a deeply personal and spiritual goal that brings me comfort and connection.
- Spending More Time with Family & Friends – Whether in person or remotely, I want to strengthen these bonds. My visual impairments present challenges, and I rely heavily on Siri to stay connected. After a serious brain bleed three years ago that affected both my occipital and frontal lobes, my daily interactions changed significantly. Despite these challenges, I cherish every moment with loved ones.
- Returning to Writing & Publishing The Fish Dress (Second Edition) – Writing has always been a passion of mine, and I plan to publish the second edition of The Fish Dress in late 2025. During the initial publishing process, I realized that I didn’t need my eyes to achieve this dream—I just needed determination and the right tools. This year, I’m making it happen again.
